Sensory and Motor Assessments
This section of the website is here to explain all the types of assessments available and to also guide you through our assessment process. Our assessments are vital to understanding a child's difficulty or condition and is essential in order for us to provide programmes and treatment methods that will allow a child to reach their full potential.
If you are interested in a Future Steps assessment please get in touch with us via telephone 01325 254688, email: email@example.com. This will give us the opportunity to talk through if an assessment is appropriate and your primary concerns.
Initially we will gather some information regarding correct contact details and funding.
Future Steps will decide on the appropriate assessment that is needed and we will send out questionnaires to be completed. Once these are completed and returned Future Steps will organize a date and time with you for the assessment to take place in our clinic. We aim to have this date organized within two weeks.
We will send you an appointment confirmation letter including details of how to get to the Future Steps Clinic and what to expect in the assessment.
A number of standardized measures will be used throughout the assessment, along with observations which take place within the Future Steps clinic. The whole process can be watched on a TV monitor in the waiting room.
A short consultation is given at the end of the assessment. We advise that the assessment will last approximately 1.5 hours.
A time will be arranged for you to meet with the therapist in the clinic for a full consultation regarding the assessment and the full occupational therapy report. Again, we usually aim for this to take place within two weeks. You will receive a draft copy of the report before this consultation, and a final copy of the report afterwards.
If you are interested in a Future Steps assessment, or occupational therapy, for a specific child, and you are enquiring from a school or local council, please get in touch via one of the above methods. We will be able to discuss with you the primary concerns and difficulties of the child, and if a Future Steps assessment is appropriate. From here we will follow the steps outlined above, ascertaining funding and primary contact details.
Amazing service staff were excellent! Loved the fact that I could watch the assessment from outside of the room.
